Chatib respects the intellectual property rights of copyright holders and complies with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512). Under this framework, Chatib is protected from liability for user-generated content — provided we act promptly on valid copyright infringement notices. This policy has been established in full compliance with that framework and is maintained by Chatib's legal team. Our Designated Copyright Agent is registered with the U.S. Copyright Office in accordance with 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(2).

2. How to Submit a DMCA Takedown Notice

If you are a copyright owner — or an authorized agent — and you have a good-faith belief that content on Chatib infringes your copyrighted work, you may submit a formal written copyright takedown notice to our Designated Copyright Agent. To be valid under the DMCA, your notice must include all of the following:

1. Physical or Electronic Signature: A physical or electronic signature of a person authorized to act on behalf of the owner of the exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.
2. Identification of the Copyrighted Work: A detailed description of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed. If multiple works are covered, a representative list is acceptable.
3. Identification of Infringing Material: Clear identification of the material claimed to be infringing and its location on Chatib — include specific URLs, room names, timestamps, and usernames to help our team locate it quickly.
4. Your Contact Information: Your mailing address, telephone number, and email address so we can reach you about your notice.
5. Good-Faith Statement: A statement that you have a good-faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
6. Statement of Accuracy: A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or are authorized to act on the owner's behalf.

3. What Happens After You Submit a Notice

Once we receive your copyright infringement notice, here is exactly what to expect:

1. You will receive an acknowledgment from us within 5 business days of receipt.
2. Our team reviews the notice for validity and completeness against the DMCA requirements above.
3. If the notice is valid, the infringing content is removed or access is disabled promptly.
4. The user who posted the content is notified of the removal and informed of their right to file a counter-notice.
5. If a counter-notice is received, we follow the 10–14 business day statutory process before any content restoration.

4. Repeat Infringer Policy

In accordance with the DMCA and other applicable law, Chatib has adopted a policy of terminating — in appropriate circumstances and at our sole discretion — the accounts of users who are determined to be repeat infringers. We may also permanently ban the IP addresses of any users who repeatedly violate the intellectual property rights of others, regardless of whether a formal notice has been submitted for each incident.

5. How to File a Counter-Notice

If you believe that your content was removed (or access to it was disabled) in error — for example, due to misidentification or because you have authorization from the copyright owner — you may send a written counter-notice to our Designated Copyright Agent.

Required Elements of a Counter-Notice

1. Your physical or electronic signature.
2. Identification of the content that was removed and its location on Chatib before it was removed (include specific URLs or descriptions).
3. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the content was removed by mistake or due to misidentification.
4. Your name, mailing address, and telephone number.
5. A statement consenting to the jurisdiction of the federal district court in your area (or, if outside the U.S., any judicial district where Chatib may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the original complainant.

Content Restoration Timeline

Upon receiving a valid counter-notice, Chatib is required by the DMCA to wait 10–14 business days before restoring the removed content. We will restore the content within that window unless our Designated Copyright Agent receives notice that the original complainant has filed a court action to prevent the restoration. This process is mandated by 17 U.S.C. § 512(g).

6. Designated Copyright Agent

7. International Copyright Holders

While the DMCA is a U.S. law, Chatib acknowledges and complies with applicable international copyright frameworks. Non-U.S. copyright holders may submit notices under their local laws. EU users may reference the EU Copyright Directive (Article 17) where applicable. Please include your jurisdiction and applicable law in your notice if filing under non-U.S. law.
